Jan Aushadhi medicine out of stock at your Kendra? What you can do
A Kendra is a small shop and runs out of some medicines between supplies. You can ask the Kendra when it expects stock, check another Kendra, or order the same Jan Aushadhi medicine online for delivery to your door. Do not skip doses while you look: ask your doctor what to do in the meantime.
Why a Kendra runs out
Each Jan Aushadhi Kendra keeps a limited stock and is resupplied by the scheme's distribution network. Medicines for long-term conditions, such as blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol, are bought every month by the same people, so a short delay in supply shows up quickly as an empty shelf.
What you can do today
- Ask the Kendra when the next supply is due. Many will note your name and medicine.
- Try another Kendra. The scheme's website and its Jan Aushadhi Sugam app list Kendras near you.
- Order online. Search for your medicine by the brand on your prescription or by its salt. We show the Jan Aushadhi medicine with the same salt and strength, and deliver it anywhere in India.
Never stop a medicine because you could not find it. If you are about to run out, speak to your doctor or pharmacist about what to take until it arrives.
How to check you are getting the same medicine
The name on a Jan Aushadhi pack is the salt itself, for example "Telmisartan Tablets IP 40mg". Compare three things with your prescription: the salt, the strength (the mg) and the form (tablet, capsule, syrup). If all three match, it is the same medicine. If any one differs, it is not, and we will not offer it as a match.
Ordering so you do not run short again
- Order a few days before your strip runs out; delivery usually takes five to seven days and the date is shown before you pay.
- Order two or three months at once for a medicine you take every day. There is no small limit on quantity.

Do I need a prescription to order online?
For a prescription medicine, yes. Send it on WhatsApp after ordering and a registered pharmacist checks it before the order is released.
What if the medicine I need is not a Jan Aushadhi product?
We show the Jan Aushadhi medicine with the same salt and strength when one exists. If none does, we show a branded alternative that costs less, or the medicine itself.
